Gutology Kids ToothpasteUpdated 6 days ago

WHY DO CHILDREN NEED A NATURAL TOOTHPASTE?
Children can benefit from natural toothpaste as their immune system and oral microbiomes are still developing. Harsh chemicals found in conventional toothpaste can disrupt the delicate balance of beneficial bacteria in the mouth, potentially leading to issues like cavities and gum disease. Natural, microbiome-friendly alternatives help preserve this balance, promoting healthier oral and gut ecosystems.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
We are really proud that our toothpaste is composed of 100% natural ingredients. No artificial sweeteners, additives or preservatives, but added benefits of anti-inflammatory properties and probiotics. It is also vegan-friendly.

Here is the full list of ingredients:
GLYCERIN, HYDRATED SILICA, AQUA, HYDROXYAPATITE, GLYCOLIPIDS, XYLITOL, LACTOBACILLUS FERMENT, AROMA, CELLULOSE GUM, CALCIUM CARBONATE, STEVIOSIDE, ACSORBIC ACID, ACACIA SESEGAL GUM, METHYLCOBALAMIN (vitamin B12), CITRUS GRANDIS SEED EXTRACT

HOW LONG DOES ONE TUBE LAST?
You only need a pea size amount each time you brush (we recommend twice a day). From our experience one tube should last for 1-2 month for one person.

ARE THESE INGREDIENTS SAFE?
Yes, we've sourced ingredients based on research from nutritionists and made sure all ingredients are safe to use. We also run stability testing on each batch of toothpaste.

It's important to note that people may still be allergic to natural ingredients - you can find full allergen information here: https://help.gutology.co.uk/en-US/gutology-hydroxyapatite-toothpaste---allergen-information-425004

WHY HAVE YOU INCLUDED GLYCERIN?
We've included glycerin in our product to prevent the toothpaste drying out.

WHAT IS THE ORAL PROBIOTICS IN KIDS TOOTHPASTE?
We use oral probiotics called Lactobacillus Ferment.

WHAT IS HYDROXYAPATITE?
This naturally occurring mineral is what gives your teeth and bones their hardness and strength. Osteopathic studies have also shown how hydroxyapatite can strengthen and rebuild bone material and dental enamel — which is also referred to as remineralisation — without any side effects.

WHAT QUALITY & HOW MUCH HYDROXYAPATITE DO YOU USE?
We've specifically selected Biomimetic Hydroxyapatite which is more effective than other hydroxyapatite and has higher remineralisation. It's simply more effective at binding to your teeth.

We source this from natural minerals (Natural Calcium Carbonate), avoiding any animal ingredients.

Biomimetic Hydroxyapatite is also very effective at reducing sensitivity & whitening teeth.

We use around 5% non-nano, biomimetic form of Hydroxyapatite, the same calcium-phosphate mineral that makes up about 97% of natural enamel. It's designed to work in harmony with your mouth's biology, helping to smooth and strengthen enamel surfaces over time. Unlike early nano forms, our hydroxyapatite is structurally similar to real enamel, allowing better adhesion and "smart" pH-responsive ion release, meaning calcium and phosphate are released only when the mouth becomes acidic.

IS THE TOOTHPASTE SUITABLE FOR PETS?
Our Gutology Toothpaste is NOT suitable for animals as it contains xylitol, an ingredient that can be harmful for pets if ingested.

WHAT AGE IS THE TOOTHPASTE SUITABLE FROM?
Our Kids Toothpaste is suitable for all ages. Please check all ingredients before use.

WHAT IF MY CHILD DON'T LIKE THE STRAWBERRY FLAVOUR?

If your child doesn't like the strawberry flavour, no problem - our Mint toothpaste is also suitable for any age. There are no significant differences between our main toothpaste and the Kids version; both offer the same level of efficacy and protection. It just comes down to flavour preference!

STORAGE, STABILITY AND SHELF LIFE
Our toothpaste can be stored in fridge. When we conduct stability testing, we test against hot and cold temperature to ensure the product stays stable. However, we do not recommend storing the product in the freezer.

The toothpaste doesn't really have an expiry date, however our recommendation is to use it within 3 years from the date of manufacturing and within 12 months after opening.

ALLERGEN INFORMATION

It's not just hay fever that can get us sneezing. Foods, medications and even cosmetic products can cause issues for many people. Some people even have an allergy to toothpaste. At Gutology, we strive to remove ingredients that we don't believe should be in our bodies everyday but some people can react to natural ingredients like Mint.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF AN ALLERGIC REACTION
Allergies occur when your immune system overreacts and starts creating antibodies when it comes in contact with a normally harmless substance. That's why your nose might start running when you breathe in pollen, or you might break out in hives when you eat a peanut.

However, the most common toothpaste allergy symptom is cheilitis, which means inflammation of the lips. Cheilitis might display as dermatitis around the mouth, including a rash and dry, cracked lips. In some cases, you might also experience sensitivity or a mild burning sensation.

With toothpaste allergies, symptoms inside the mouth are very rare. You should see your dentist, GP or call 111 (in the UK) immediately if you experience any itchiness or swelling in your mouth. You might have a food allergy or a different oral health problem instead.

POTENTIAL ALLERGENS IN NATURAL TOOTHPASTE
We strive to use natural ingredients in all our products but in rare cases people can react to the following:

Flavourings - like spearmint, peppermint or strawberry.

Essential oils - such as limonene & menthol oil.

Humectants - like Glycerine which are derived from vegetables.

Glycolipids - are mixed substances that contain carbohydrates.

Sweeteners - such as xylitol & stevia.

Natural preservatives - Citrus Grandis Seed Extract.

Probiotics - such as Lactobacillus.

Vitamins - Ascorbic Acid, Methylcobalamin (as in cobalt).

Other - Calcium Carbonate, Cellulose Gum, Acacia Senegal Gum & Hydroxyapatite can also cause allergic reactions in rare cases.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE ALLERGIC
Are you experiencing swollen and cracked lips or dealing with a rash around your mouth? If you think you're allergic to your toothpaste, then switch immediately. Try a different flavour or brand to see if the symptoms resolve.

If the problem persists, then reach out to your dentist or primary care physician. They might refer you to an allergist, who can perform tests to determine which ingredients or materials are causing the irritation. You might learn it's not your toothpaste at all, but a new chapstick or face wash. Once the offending ingredient is identified, you can avoid it in the future.

A toothpaste allergy should not get in the way of great oral hygiene. If you're having trouble finding a toothpaste that works for you, your dental professional would be happy to help you find the right product. That way, you can get rid of unwanted allergy symptoms and take care of your oral health.
